Sara and Sarah

One day Sara was walking down the street to the supermarket. As she approached the Foods-Are-Us store, he heard someone call her name. “Sara! Sara! Sara!” Sara looked around and saw a woman staring at her. At that point, Sara became confused. Then she looked at the woman and said “Hello Sara, how are you?” At that moment Sara just wanted to run away because she was confused and unsure how to act! Then the woman said, “It’s okay Sara, I’m not here to hurt you.” she then walked up to Sara, held out her hand, and said: “My name is also Sarah… How are you?” Then Sara said, “Ok… nice to meet you. That’s so weird and kind of cool that both of us have the same names.” And then the woman says, “I know, that has always been my most favorite name! Ever since I was a child, I knew I would always name my daughter Sara!”

Sara replied, “Okay So did you?” “Yes I did” said Sarah, “It was the happiest day of my life.” “Sounds nice… my mom and I do not have the same name. Her name is Stephanie.” “That’s lovely!” Sarah says, “How is she?” says Sarah. “She’s fine but I don’t see her much these days because she moved to Arizona 3 years ago.” “Oh but Arizona is nice. Can I ask you a question?” Sara says “Go ahead and ask” Sarah asks an odd question, “Okay who do you live with?” Sara feels this question is weird but replies truthfully to the seemingly harmless woman “Um, I live with my father for right now and soon I want to move to Texas!?” “Oh that’s lovely but what will you do there?” “I don’t know yet” she replied. Sarah continues to ask questions “Can I ask, how old are you?” “How old do I look?” Sarah replies confidently “When I hear you talk and see your face you look 19 years old and beautiful!” Sara is shocked and replies “Um that is weird because I just turned 19 4 days ago! Then they both laughed together and Sarah said “You know what, I knew your birthday just passed!”

Then Sara begins to be confused and worried about this strange woman. Who is she and why does she know my birthday? Sara asks “How did you know and who are you?” Sarah put her head down, coughed a bit, and then smiled and said “Sara, I am your mother.” Sara stood there shocked and could not believe what she was hearing. She began to cry because she was always emotional about her past, and grew angry because she did not understand why someone would say that to her. She yelled back at Sarah “I do not believe you, my mother is like no other and she is the best! I don’t believe you and you are a liar!” Sarah pauses and takes a deep breath and says “I’m sorry, but I am not lying. I would never do such a thing! The woman you call Mom is my sister! Stephanie is my big sister!”

“What the hell is happening here?” Sara says in disbelief. “It’s a hard story to tell, but it’s all true and I will tell you.” Sara takes a moment to think and reluctantly says “Okay, but first I want you to answer my questions for me.” “Yes of course” Sarah happily replies. Sara begins with her first question “Why did you give me to your sister?” Sarah pauses and replies “Um, this will be hard” “Tell me the full story then.” Sarah says, “Okay this is the full truth and I will not lie.”

Both Sarah and Sara sit on a bench outside the store and Sara is eager to hear the story from Sarah to see if she is telling the truth or just another lie. “I was 18 years old when I met your dad in school and we dated and eventually things began to happen and before I knew it, we began to be intimate with each other. After this happened, we remained on good terms and time went on. However, I felt sick and I knew something was wrong, and went to the doctors. Sure enough I turned out to be pregnant! And I was in shock and thought they had to have made a mistake. After they confirmed it was the truth, I went home and cried for many nights after. I had plans for my life after highschool, I wanted to go to college but it all had changed. I was pregnant.”

“I had to tell my parents and my mother cried for days. They wanted me to get an abortion. But I did not know what to do… but then I said NO! I will not do that to my baby! It was then that my big sister, who is 10 years older than me, told me she would take care of you, because I was too young to be a mother. I did not want to give you up, but I knew it was the best thing to do for you and me! Once I gave birth to you, she adopted you and became your mother. I stayed away from you because I did not want to confuse you. I could see she was good for you, so I hugged an kissed you and said goodbye and that I love you. I gave you my name so you would not forget me. I am very sorry but it was the best thing for you. I am positive she was a great mom for you.”

Sarah looks at Sara in the eyes and says “If its okay with you, please call me Aunt Sarah! Even though you have a loving mother, I will always be there for you. Please forgive me and know, I will always love you forever! You’ll always be a fabulous niece Sara” Sara was in sock from the whole story but still believed her because she felt a strange motherly connection with this woman. She took a moment to gather herself and replied “I love you Aunt Sarah, and thank you for everything.” Sara left and went home in tears. She got home and hugged her mother and said, “I love you mom!” Her mother replied “I know you know now, but I will always be your mother.”

My soul’s desire has always been to create something from nothing. To sit with a blank screen and craft my stories, poetry and anything that tickles my fancy, from my own unique point of view. As I thought about what I wanted to create and how I would present it to the world, I decided this site was a platform where I could share my musings and talents. My desire is to connect with others who share my affinity for everyday humor, while navigating through life’s joys and challenges. I am not a professional writer but I am interested in sharing my inspirations and craziness that is my life as a wannabe writer, poet, storyteller, student, mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. My hope is that in sharing my unique perspective on my own experiences, I will in turn touch someone’s life; whether through laughter or tears. We are all the same, seeking connections and a place to fit in. I welcome all to be inspired and to be inspiring.
